Ok, what’s your name?
Fadna.
Fadna, are you willing to answer my questions?
Yes
Thank you very much for accepting.
I thank you too.

Before you could acquire the machine, did you also hand-extract the cosmetic Argan oil?
Yes, we used to hand-produce it.
Using only your hands?
Yes, we processed it only with our hands.
Using the stone-mill?
Yes.
And how long does it take to hand-extract 1 liter of cosmetic Argan oil?
This one needs more hard work.
More than the culinary Argan oil?
Yes, a lot more.
Why?
Because it’s not roasted.
It sticks?
Yes it sticks, and if you put more water than needed, it hardens and it is spoilt.
If you put more water than necessary?
Yes, if you don’t pay attention to the water quantity, it is spoilt. And only a few women know how to extract it by hand.
The cosmetic Argan oil?
Yes, only few know how to extract it by hand. But I used to extract it with my hands in another cooperative in T´manar.
What about the machine?
In our region, we don’t use the machine.
And in this region, do they use the machine?
Yes, but in this cooperative we also extract it by hand from time to time.

Again, the main difference between the culinary and cosmetic Argan oil is the roasting procedure of the Argan kernels. The cosmetic Argan oil was also extracted the hard and time-consuming traditional way before the machine era.
