The Mechanical Argan Oil Press-Extraction Method

The Mechanical Argan Oil Press-Extraction Method

Argan oil: Mechanical extraction

On the other hand, to satisfy the ongoing demand of the worldwide Argan oil market, other more sophisticated Argan oil extracting methods were adopted (read: imposed).

These might be more efficient and less time-consuming than the traditional one in terms of production and Argan oil bottling quantities.

Nonetheless, the chemical extraction tops both the traditional and the mechanical ones!

Anyway, I wouldn´t necessarily call these Argan oil extraction methods “advanced” (especially the 100% mechanical ones!) as the quality and potential of the Argan oil they produce can in no way compete with the traditional one.

Yes I know, the cosmetics industry is promoting the opposite and some invented fallacies to oil their marketing wheels!

The basic processing of most of the methods using mechanical presses consists in powdering the Argan kernels before pressing their dough directly, skipping the mixing-with-water step they judge as superfluous and needless! (semi-mechanical excluded)

The Argan kernels used in this method are often un-roasted to gain more Argan oil, but they loose quality in comparison to the extraction with roasted ones.

The extracting time is much faster: only a couple hours are needed to extract 1 litre of Argan oil using the mechanical method.

  • Thanks for the information on the mechanics.

  • Hi!
    I have a few questions if that’s ok. 🙂
-Does your mechanical process of extraction use a high temperature, or any heat at all in the pressing stage or at any stage at all?
(asking regarding your cosmetic Argan oil)
I guess more simply said, do you use any heat to extract the oil? I know it states your oil is fresh pressed, just need to know if any heat is used. Thanks, sorry to be so redundant! 🙂
-Do you powder your kernels before you press them?
Thanks and I look forward to hearing back from you!
-Is your cosmetic Argan oil slightly cloudy and does it contain any sediment?

      Hi Sheri,

Thank you for stopping by and for your interest in our Argan oil.

Since you have already contacted our support, one of my support colleagues stated that all your questions were answered per email.
That said, please don’t hesitate to let us know if there is anything else we can do to assist you further.

      Thank you 🙂

    Hello Amina,
When I buy it from you (not wholesale), what method is it?
    Cheers,

      Hi Jennifer,

      Thank you for writing in.

Regardless whether you are a retail client or wholesale one, we only offer one quality of Argan oil (for both cosmetic and culinary): Highest Argan oil quality with its full shelf-life, as every product is prepared upon order.

Please note that Arganfarm is located in the biggest Argan region in Morocco and hence sitting in the source of Argan oil. In other words, our products come directly from a hand-picked network of organic certified and Fair-Trade, traditional Argan oil cooperatives.

This is why the Argan oil we’re offering to both our retail as well as wholesale clients, is 100% pure, organic, comes only out of hand-picked Argan fruits and is of a constant high quality = It is:

      • 100% Pure
      • 100% Organic
      • NOT diluted
      • NOT deodorized
      • NOT blended, neither with water nor with any other substances
      • Neither from Animals (i.e. goats) nor tested on them

It is hence not to compare with any „already-expiring“, diluted, over-processed or any kind of „cheap“ Argan oil.

The extraction method we use for the cosmetic retail orders is the mechanical one, as this enables us to fine-tune for small orders (as opposed to the hand-pressed technique that yields a lot of oil loss when adopted for small quantities).

Please note however that the main difference here is the quantity of sediment the oil contains:

The hand-pressed cosmetic Argan oil contains minimum twice the amount of sediment rests, whereas the mechanically pressed one contains only a small quantity of the fine sediment (which no retail client would appreciate having in her / his bottle).

That said, please note that only the pressing-step of the cosmetic Argan oil is mechanical, as we are still processing all other extraction steps by hand.

I hope this answers your question.

      cheers 🙂

What extraction method do you use.

    • A

      Hi Gary,

      Thank you for stopping by.

At Arganfarm, we use both traditional and / or mechanical extraction depending on the clients’ wish (for wholesale).

      Cheers 🙂
